THE WINDOW TREATMENT SPECIALISTS

Regulations

There are regulations about the safety of glass, and the need for it to be seen in commercial buildings. Regulation 14 imposes, on those responsible, a duty to undertake a risk assessment of glazing in critical locations. We have a comprehensive understanding of your legal requirements and can advise you on the best way to comply and demonstrate a duty of care.

Regulation 14

Every window or other transparent or translucent surface in a wall or partition and every transparent or translucent surface in a door or gate shall, where necessary for reasons of health and safety:

  1. be of safety material or be protected against breakage of the transparent or translucent material;
  2. be appropriately marked or incorporate features so as, in either case, to make it apparent.

Regulation 14 applies to commercial and public-sector buildings, schools and education, duty holders, directors, managers or headmasters, if there is no risk assessment of the glass, or no permanent record of glass types or improvements.

At WindowTreat we’ll help you through every step. From adhering to legislation, to demonstrating you’ve taken appropriate steps to minimise the risks. With our window film solutions you can easily upgrade existing glazing that doesn’t comply and instantly improve the safety and visibility of any glass.
