Onslow House

This property, Onslow House, is a state of the art commercial building situated in the heart of Guildford. Recently to the beginning of WindowTreat’s solar window film, the property had undergone some extensive redevelopment, transforming the commercial property into a modern, beautiful five-story, highly prominent office space. The roadside entrance gives very easy access to the reception area via escalators into a magnificent double-story glass atrium for the most beautiful view out.

At first look at this property, we are blown away by its beauty and the uninterrupted view out of the glass. WindowTreat’s solutions helped maintain this view and the outstanding high light levels, whilst solving the client’s issue of extremely uncomfortable solar heat gain.

For this project, the architect in charge of the redevelopment knew that there would be some issues in choosing the correct air conditioning system to cope with the extreme variants of solar heat gain into the property through the glass, caused when the sun was out, making the space agonizingly hot, and unbearable. At the time this would have been a very hard place to work and would make it near impossible to concentrate on work.

WindowTreat was selected and appointed to demonstrate the benefits, key aspects, and heat rejection of selecting and installing our highly effective solar window film products to the atrium glazing. This would be complete by careful selection of solar window film as we would like to keep as much light coming in as possible, maintain the uninterrupted view out the glass, whilst significantly reducing the heat gain levels.

WindowTreat demonstrate the power of solar window film by creating digital models of the glazing with the selected window films. These highly technical models demonstrate the extreme thermal improvements that the solar window film selected would create. On top of this, the program used by WindowTreat shows the thermal compatibility of the window film and the glass, what this means is that the program makes sure that the specific glass on the building can have window film installed onto it without creating any complications. This model report allowed the architect, main contractor, and client to create a highly informed decision for the solar window film to be installed on the property.

They could then safely choose an effective and adequate air conditioning system that they would be confident in cooling down the area, rather than cooling the universe as our solar window film will reject an outstanding amount of heat.

WindowTreat’s highly detailed project management and installation team proudly delivered the highly effective solar window film to the large glazed atrium, using a large boom lift to safely and effectively access the highest glazing of the atrium.

The customer was also experiencing privacy issues, people passing by were able to see the inside of the property from the street. Our client wanted to eliminate this. WindowTreat solved this privacy issue at the reception floor level by installing a graduating manifestation band, to distort and ultimately reduce the visibility through the glass.
